This is the animation I've been working on since last december, and I'm hoping to finish up before october. There is still alot that needs to be done, and more I actually want to do with it. So if you have any input that would be much appriciated.
You people who see this are the only people besides school mates and friends to see this animation where it is. Keep it secret, keep it safe. :D

i think you have drawing down pretty well, but i think in terms of animation work on the line qaulity it all shakes/boils ,and makes the animation look bad.Its looks like allot of straight ahead animation, think about your key poses, take your time.
looking foward to more progress.

I both agree and dissagree with Noob here. I do think that it need a lot of refinement , but it is a WIP. On the other hand, the shaky animations is a style to some people. For example the animation in Kill Bill has a similar type of shakines to it. I think the problem is not as much to do with the outer lines, but more with the inner lines that seperate color like shadows and highlights.
Now with that said, I really enjoyed the fight scene. Even in the early stages it has a lot of heart and emotion it it. The camera angles are aso great.
Update us soon.
PS: Rober - I don't think there were any tweens used, all frame by frame from what I seen.

yeh and you usaully can tell when its a style.;) i doubt it was purposly supposed to be that way.
and i think its a "work in progress" where he is looking for crits on what he has almost completed,i don't think its at the stage where you can throw in the "WIP card",its has colour....lol.
hope your not taking my comments to harshly alamus ,guess you can tell by now whos the bad cop on this forum:p
keep at it.

Yah, dunno. I kinda like some of the crunchy- like the closing fist. That's awesome. I think the trouble is timing/spacing, and the jumpy lines just make that stand out even more...
Try to find example... Like when the blond dude is lifting his hand. It technically looks ok, anatomy is pretty much there. Its the spacing.
Dunno how to describe. Should be a fast move with a settle like:
|---|-------|--------------|--------------|-------|---|--|
^frames
and right now it seems uniform like :
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Action stuff is solid, 'cept that zoom in on the guy in yellow- should either be jump cuts or smooth, right now its in between. That's my two cents. Good luck w/ the rest!;)

Yeah, the line quality is a bit shakey, but that's mostly because I'm doing all of my frame work within flash using a tablet. And I do my key frames in photoshop like a gesture drawing, then bring them into flash, then go over them and add in tweens.
That's what some of the blue and multicolored lines were in the animation. I start with a gesture drawing animated, then flesh it out.
So I don't think there is anyway I can get everything without a shakey line, also I was under the impression that line quality wasn't as important as maintaining the mass of what you were drawing. Or that's what I learn in school.
Still its good to read what others really think.

I agree with you on that one. The inner lines with alot of the shading and what not are actually drawn over the initial lines on a seperate layer. So I guess I'm going to have to go back with a lot of it and change that.
And considering the tweens, there are tweens. A lot of tweens. x.x

With the spacing of the blonde guy lifting his hand, I was trying to make it look like he was doing slowly, so I guess I'm going to have to add in more frames to give it that right effect. Like he's doing it slowly not to get attention, but to get ready.
As for the guy in the yellow shirt and that zoom up, yes, it is VERY shaky and not with intention. I got to go back and draw more tweens for that to give it a smoother look. Its just a very complicated thing to do since he and the girl are on two seperate layers and their own symbols, so adding more frames to him means I gotta add more frames to her and so on.... x.x wahhh. so much work left to do!

howdy alamus,
Great work, I have no doubt you will find the movements you are looking for. I like the style. Is this a school project?
Isn't it fun to do the keys in photoshop and then all the tweens in flash? UGH! I know how that is I've done that and still do some of that........oh well i'm still learning flash.
Oh! and the fact you are a girl....! GREAT! I love seeing more gals join us. I'm trying to convince a few more to come aboard.
Again Great work!

what the hell kinda school taught you that:blink: ,line are just as important as mass, infact,in animation....the line creates the mass,so that kinda makes noooo sense.lol.In the words of Geogre Bridgman
"Think is masses, define them in lines"
So I don't think there is anyway I can get everything without a shakey line,
it takes patience, draw quick lines instead of slow ones, zoom in to about 200/300 %
........
and yes as vic put,please avoid posting 4 times,use the edit button,or just don't quote:D :D
Nice stuff. I don't have anything else to say thats already been said.

Heheh it's like the Rubenistes and the Poussinistes all over again. "COLOR!" "LINE!" "COLOR!" "LINE!"
I'll have to side with mass on this one, how else can you get it moving realistically? Line builds, mass moves. So yeah. Use both obviously, as u saynoob :D i'm just sayin...
Good luck, alamus. Esp with slo movements. man that's just soooo many drawings...

the line IS the mass, the line is what Creates the illusion of mass.all this stuff about line qauilty being less important than mass may all be well and true, but good luck using that excuse in the professional world.
"your lines are too shaky"
"but line qaulity is less important...."
"...your fired"
.......
i'm just speaking realisticly, helping to improve,i'm all for the "family/friendly"-ness of the forum, but i am what i am.anywho, thread poster cleary is goin to ignore,so good luck anyway :)
