Allright, theres a group battle animation going on at JA, and this is a character design for mine. Obviously when i animate him fbf, he will be simplified a lot, but i thought id post it up here, you guys seem to give helpful inspirational comments :D

I like the design, its looks a bit rushed though.I think he is supposed to be standing relaxed with his hand on his hip,but i'm not feeling that.I know you probably weren't thinking about this, probably where focusing more on his design. But its still something to watch.

One thing i don't like about JA is its anime kinda based theme forum,i have nothing against anime, buts it not good to jump into anime without knowing how to draw realistically. If you want to be an animator you can't show up to an interview with a portfolio full of anime...

1.its just frowned upon and doesn't show your range.
2.Unless your moving to japan, its not likely your gunna ever be doing anime style work.Unless your doin crappy american anime *shudders*

Please don't think about style, style is something that finds you not the other way round.

Think of it as like...the way you walk...you didn't try to develop a way of walking, that justs..you..the way you walk.the same is with drawing don't try to draw in a certain style, sooner or later you'll just draw in a way you feel comfortable with and that will be recognized by others.

Ah, thanks a lot. MY best bet is to go for life drawing then eh? Id been thinking about this for a while, but hadnt really taken it in, or tried it. There are no life drawing classes where i am, so what do you suggest? I had the idea of copying people from magazines, but i dont think that will help me anywhere near as much.

UK, whitstable. I can look around some more, there might be some on at the collage near me, but i dont think so, there werent last time i checked. I was kind of asking, aside from life drawing classes, does anyone have any suggestions to how i can improve at life drawing without classes? Like..perhaps looking out my window and drawing gestral sketches at people on the park, or going out, and sitting down to sketch random passers by..ect.?

yep, thats more classed as observational drawing than life drawing though.Life drawing is learning about the body, anatomy etc. observational is just as imporant though,so do it,and lets see:D
