Anyone have plans to see it? I know the technique is rotoscoping but I like the look. I also love Philip K Dick's writings and I hear this one is the most faithful [short of Blade Runner perhaps.]
I read the graphic novel made entirely of stills from the movie and if it's anywhere near that good onscreen, I'm there.

2.looks cool, but the coolness will probably ware off 5 mins into the film
3.keanu reaves sucks
4.keanu reaves really sucks.

You forgot that the fact that the title uses "darkly" like an adjective when it is clearly an adverb.
How am I supposed to respect a conspiracy theory movie if they can't even get grammar right?

heheh, well I believe it's good casting. he doesn't have much to do. actually, he's playing someone that... well, I'll say it's the perfect role for him.
But don't take my word for it! "The casting of Reeves in the lead role is inspired: who better than the star of "The Matrix" and its sequels, a trilogy that borrows heavily from Dick's sensibility and obsessions, to play a personality split through overindulgence in drugs and manipulation by outside forces he barely recognizes?"-Chicago Reader, 4 stars outta 4 LA times, Villiage voice, all spooging.
73 from metacritic. I'm freakin' pumped.
Yes EDC! I love that someone besides me is a grammar nazi, but it is used correctly in context and pulled as a quote. The protagonist muses on whether scanners see into people's lives clearly or darkly.
Goin' tonight @ 7:30 ish. I'll let youse know if it's worth the ticket.

"Keanu, wow... You know you have a woodpecker on your head?"

This movie was freakin' great and well worth the ticket price. Tho... people who've never been on drugs might not follow everything.

1) One of the most brilliant novels ever written.
2) Reeves in The Gift killed all his other uselss roles, he does tortured well. I guess having been stabbed by your father really helps/
3) It's not really rotoscoping, they took motion senor equipment and layered models doen overtop of real video footage then they dropped it's opacity and rendered all the colours to a sort of trace-bitmap feel.
4) It's worth the ticket. I peed myself.
5) Robert Downey Jr. is in it. End of discussion.

It's the name of the book :p Philip K Dick also wrote do androids dream of electric sheep which was turned into that amasing film blade runner (and had another book adapted into that not so amasing film Minority report,).
EDIT: Haha O yea and of course there's Total Recall
Tho... people who've never been on drugs might not follow everything.

Yes.
But I don't really hate Reeves. His voice is just a bit... weird. Before I saw the Matrix I had no idea about any earlier films with him in it. Then when I saw a pretty old Reeves movie I was like "Hey, that's exactly like Neo. He sucks. Blargh Honk Dupe Hax 1337 All your base (that's some internet addict's grammar, yeh grammer nahzee's!!!!!11!1!!:D )" But then, that's not possible because they were made before the Matrix.
Dood! Has he been stabbed by his father? :Xead:
But yeah, I think it'll be worth watching. In a few months, here in Holland. Man, Curious George only came out this week or so. I bet they had a lot of trouble with the name. They didn't just translate the name, they called it Nieuwsgierig Aapje, which means Curious Little Monkey. Hope the same thing doesn't happen with this one.

I had heard this too! I dunno if it's true, if so omg wtf. Better than what happened to marvin gaye.
Bobby Downey JR - I laughed at everything his character did, just priceless! Now I want to see it again.
Anyone here spot any of the errors in the seam between 3-D and 2-d Int Roto?
Edit: Guess not
When I saw the trailer for this film I thought it be an awesome show to see. Because it look so unique and fresh compare to other 2d animation films. I even read about it in the animation maginze that came out. The week it came out I wasnt able to see it so I thought there always next week right. Wrong! Because the town I live in say there are conservative town they only had it at theaters for only a week and it just gone without a word. So I am upset because I wanted to see it and now I won't see it til it is release on dvd. And that is soooo wrong because oooh its ok for smut but with drugs oh no that is bad and shouldn't be watch it. Most people don't understand how they make something artistic or unique. From what I heard of the film I heard it rocks and hopefully I get to see it just not this year.

its a rotoscoped film.one little exception doesn't make the whole thing an animated feature.but average people can't even tell the difference anyway.

haha rotoscoping has merit noob, don't be so conservative :p, Most of sleeping beuty was rotoscoped, it's a viable method for telling a story and there is skill involved in pull it off in an interesting way, a lot of the max fleitcher cartoons use rotoscoping too.
i_cartoon> I loved that film, It realy makes me want to do somthign like that with animators. Or have a dogma animation manifesto or somthing haha.

my point is i don't think its "animated" not that its bad ross.but thanks for twisting my words.
what i mean by that is,i wouldn't call golem from lotr "animated" either.Or the ipod ads.
just my opinion on what i feel is animation.
Just like i wouldn't call a porn star an "actress"...or keanu reaves.

noob, if you read about the process they went through and all the work they did, you might change your mind. I call this film an animated feature without exception. It's not simply a matter of roto vs. hand. They really did make two films to make one.
werd sang. why turn your nose up at a perfectly good technique, even if you choose not to use it?
good eye, toon, I'll check it!
When I watch an animated film I want to see a variety of slick characters and designs. Not some boring human forms.
I'm roll with a hummer.

Ah! Alright.
I think Philip K. Dick's characters are written really well. That makes em interesting enough for me. I thought the characters in Mulan were designed really well, and that movie = pig vomit. *shrugs*
To each his own.
If you peep my other post I was talking about the design. Having actors roto'd isn't character design.

heheh you obviously don't know what goes into shooting live action.
And evidently no one around here appreciates all the ridiculously hard work that went into this previously unheard of, unprecedented, drop-dead gorgeous design. roto work. roto design. design work. what-the-****-ever.
