Hey duders, I have a quick question regarding Flash and symbols. How do you resize a symbol by percentages rather than doing it manually with free transform? Is it possible ? I have Flash MX 2004. thx

Yeah, I know about scaling but when I click on scaling it only lets me resize it manually. Can't I just type in a percentage somewhere and it resizes it for me?

Edit: Ahhhh thx, let me try that

You can also go to the properties tab and scale the symbol based on it's pixel size. (just take the current x and y values and multiply by two to double the size for example)

Yea mine was from Flash 8 pro so there was gonna be some differences but mainly the same.

And Demon he wanted to do it was a % was the main thing. You can also change non symboled artwork with the expand and inset function. Twice as big, three times as big etc.

I know that, I just didn't want him making a whole new topic if he wanted to scale something "by pixel". (plus if you know math, scaling by the properties bar is a bit quicker than going out of your way to open the transform panel, and yeilds the same percentage based results) I know most of the scaling I do is by pixel (at least for layout based stuff). Plus last time I checked, you can scale non-symbolized artwork with the properties bar too (if not, I wonder how the hell I did some of the things I did). Maybe that was a feature only in flash 8 though, I haven't been keeping track.

Select the symbol and press CTRL-ALT-S.

Then a little box pops up asking for a percentage to scale by, and the degress to rotate by. Piece of cake!
