So, does anyone know of a plot outliner or story development tool for Mac? Preferably free?

I know you said free but I think you should take a look at Final Draft. I love that program.

When you're not applying whatever you will write to a studio or a publisher, then the software doesn't matter. I love my Notepad. It's perfect.

Mac should have it's Typepad or something like that, too...

Notepad rocx all. I do most of the coding for AF on my simple notepad. It doesn't alter the text and remains loyal.

Mac's TextEdit is basically the same.

But I meant one of those programs that let plot out your story first, like a timeline or something where you fill in what happens when. Maybe that doesn't exist. I should really start getting more serious about C++. This is like the fourth time I've "started" learning. I can only display text and add numbers...

What's wrong with making notes and graphics on a piece of paper? I've done that and it's quite a mess if you're like me, but it's effective.

Dude, forget C++, I got into C# a year ago and it kicks major ass. It's really so much easier and time consuming and newer.

Maybe I will do it on paper, elephant. But most likely, I am like you, or worse, and it will be a huge mess.

Terro, C# is Windows-only, right? Aside from the fact that I just like Mac over Windows, IF I finally manage to make a program, I want it to be multiplatform.
Or maybe Java is an idea?

But let's not get off topic.
Pencil and paper it is, then. :D

Doesn't Mac have it's own coding platform built-in? Or is it just for creating some sort of workflows?

Well, there's AppleScript, which you use to automate function and things, and there's XCode, a complete development program. You can implement any language you want, as long as it's Mac compatible. The problem is, many programs written in XCode use either a Cocoa or Carbon framework, both are mac-only, like Windows has .NET.

But it's all becoming a bit technical. AND off-topic. How lovely.

Ooo I liked the scheduling and wardrobe stuff. Nice addition to a script software.

Scrivener!!!
Excellent program for writing on the mac. Really good. Storyboarding, background info, characters, it organizes it all very intuitively.
Get the demo & never look back!
