Hey, I rode in here from Noob's sig in CGTalk. I noticed him a couple of months ago because he's a year younger than me and probably a year ahead of me artistically. Apart from that I have a certain ambition to study Experimental or Character Animation at CalArts, so this seems like a logical place to be :D

I'm a 17-year old (18 in a month) South African who's lived around the world and is currently studying in London. That's the one in the UK, not Ontario. North America should stop stealing European place names ;)
As for animation, I'm working on something at the moment which I'll post here as soon as it's ready.

Btw, anybody else in London? And if so, are you thinking of going to the International Manga and Anime Festival at the end of October? There's a huge prize fund (this info is fall all animators here) with the best entry getting $30,000. I don't think I'll be ready before September 30th, the deadline :(
Anyway, be gentle with me peeps!!

Hey welcome jimmi, cal arts eh? phew,if u go to the finished animation section and look for razi's post.on razi's site theres allot info about getting into calarts etc.

i was considering going to that anime fest, but i changed my mind for several reasons.

1.deadline is way too close
2.my style is not really *anime*

but bleh! can't wait to see some of your stuff and i wish u the best of luck getting into calarts in teh future.

i forgot i even linked this forum in my sig over on cgtalk lol.

Hehe, thanks for the welcome :)

I really like your style. I can't remember in detail which picture it was, but there was a topless woman involved, and it was like some of the old school fantasy artists meeting African surrealism. I'm sure there's no such thing as African surrealism, but it seems to fit my idea of your style pretty well so...:D

...

...

Just noticed YOU'RE in London. >.<
The deadline is VERY close (I've decided not to storyboard my primary action-sequence...well, actually to do it on the fly), but for roughly 22,000 quid I'm going to give it a try. I'll need to finance myself should I even get in to CalArts  It's even more difficult now because after a couple of years I'm FINALLY going back to school (long story), so I'm going to have even less time...but it's all about the art, right?

NOOB!
