Anthony has been chasing me down for the last month or so about doing a video tutorial. I'm not the best at these things because I am mostly very quiet when I paint, but I finally did a recording for you guys.

It's not that easy, lol. It's like having the spotlight on you, so don't get mad at me for saying "Uhhhhh" a lot lol. I did a 7 minute clip for you guys off the top of my head. :)

This is a Quicktime file that I zipped and uploaded to my server. The download is approx 30 megs. I will make another one as soon as I get some free time.

PS: For some reason my voice came out very quiet even though I had everything set to high. It's probably my crappy mic. I'll get a new one for the next vid.

DOWNLOAD!! (http://www.gk-concepts.com/vidtutorials/video1.zip)

Make sure you got the latest version of Quicktime, I had to get the best compression.

Theres something about artists having soothing voices.:)

Nice stuff, Greg. I never knew about that Sketch Pad thing. I'll have to get more deep with Painter.

What wil the next video be covering?

I will try to get the next video in here sometimes this week. The next video will be a continuation of this one. It'll focus on some more advanced setup techniques , so that when I do release part 3, you'll know why I do what I do. With out the introduction vids, I would loose you guys real quick :)

Glad you guys like it.

Awsome tutorial Terro! I don't even use painter and I was enthralled! I almost detect an accent. Is there? Sort of sounds like Ren on a hangover! *kidding*:D Are you from Ukranian decent? Bangledesh, Boudapestian, Italian? Damn, I can't place it.

I was born in Krakow, Poland. We moved to the states when I was 9 years old. The little that I learned of polish stayed behind in my subconcious and formed a tiny accent. :)

I'm happy that you enjoyed it.

I love these tutorials. How do you make them Greg?

I use a screen capture application that records a avi of all on-screen activity, but I may just set up a regular external camera for my new ones since the screen-capture takes a lot of memory and slows everything down.

I had no idea you could use ctrl+alt to change brush size!

Thanks T!

Hey Terro,
What screen capture program are you using? I'd like to do some tut's on using toon boom, I saw a few programs out there, but I've never used any. Can you make a reccommendation?
Thanks,
Pat

I looked at camstudio, which is free & actually looked great, but when i downloaded & went to install my comp told me it might have problems with my OS. I dont know how old the program is since Im on XP, but due to my lack of knowledge I don't want to install it & screw my comp up. But if someone can tell me it will work then Ill go for it, the program records in avi and I think .swf as well.

I might be using a dated version, I found it by including the word free in my search & was directed to a sourceforge page. Anyway, after ignoring the warning message & installing it works just fine.
