Hi everyone,

Why have I been gone so long? I've been working on a flash piece called "An Evening with ERAL GREY"

The concept is a TV show that airs on PBS or use too that is.

The show opens with the title and then we focus in on a pipe lightly smoking in an ashtry with a fire place out of focus flickering in the background. We push in to clearly see the fire place with a quiet dog sleeping at the hearth. Then pan slowley to the left to reveal Eral rey sitting in a overstuffed chair holding a girly mag looking at the centerfold. Startled he rumages to put the mag down and then he welcomes you to the show.
He then tells you about the auther of his evening story and begins his story.

Ladys and Gentelmen, Hobo's and Tramps, Cross eyed mosquito's and bo legged ants.
I come here before you and stand behind you, to tell you a story I know nothing about.
One bright morning, in the middle of the night.
Two Fat Skinny Boys started a fight.
They stood back to back and faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf police man heard this noise, came a running and shot these two dead boys.
If you do not believe this lie is true......................ask my blind Uncle he saw it too.

we pan back a little and the narator begins, that this has been an evening with Eral grey and then a spark from the fire place pops out onto the dog and immediatly his fur burns up and he is black then a very short pause then eral grey poof goes up in flames and turns black.

credits begin to roll

end.

I've also have other things happening around Eral as he is reading like props popping in and out and the dog has off the wall expressions to the story and there is a Famous pic of Boy Blue in the back ground That reacts to Eral's antics and words.

I hope it all comes together soon I was wanting to debut this before christmas but man this has become a chore!!!

What do you guys think of the Idea..................?

Cart, that sounds hilarious. The poem is a variation of one my dad use to say to me, oh, about twenty years ago:

One bright day, in the middle of the night,
Two dead men got up to fight!
Back to back they faced each other,
They drew their swords and shot each other.
Well, the deaf policeman heard this noise,
and went over to kill the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this story's true,
Ask the blind man...he saw it, too.

And if my pop was feeling rather rambunctious and had a wobbly pop or two in him, he'd add:

...Through the hole in the chain link fence.

It sounds great, Cart, and I'm really looking forward to it. I really like your style and can't wait to see it animated.

Good idea cartuneman, i like the poem. are you going to animate the story of the poem or is eral rey just going to tell you it?

No not actually but the use of props popping in and out around Eral as he tells the story is kinda funny.

I was torn for the longest as to have Eral as a nast dirty t-shirted hillbilly or a staunch over stuffed conservitive type with a fullawful mustache so I wouldn't have to worry to much about mouth movements. Sorry I'm not going to expose any of this till i get it done and done right! (visually that is)

and Daft,
hahahahahahahahahahahaha ya my father was the one who told me the story too.....along with a few others hahahahahahaha I just embellished it a bit.

Oh! I am looking for some BG music anyone have Ideas where I can look for some?

It sounds a bit like the second part of "The Jim Henson Hour".
It was very shadowy looking, and an old man (real life story teller with a lot of makeup) would tell old fairy tales in front of a fire, with his dog (looked a lot like Sprocket from "Fragil Rock") listening on, and reacting to different parts of the story that would come to life around the fire.

Looking forward to seeing it.

This made me laugh, it was the first time I read this poem. I'm 26 and never heard this before.

The concepts sounds very interestin. You got any concepts of Earl Gery yet?

Can't wait to see it.
