Looking good.
I think the legs running was very hard to read, to much movement for the eye to see well. I think you need to draw some motion blur with those.

yeh tis looking great, motion blur cud be used in sum places as suggested.

looking very good, i didn't like how u draw that kid, maybe u should add some more shades for him, the sound is a little off but i think u are know that (do you?).
but it's looking very promising :)

Looks good... can't wait to see more. The the character that just stands there waiting needs something more, maybe something with the eyes. But I'm sure as the story goes on the pieces start to fall together. Great job so far.

I fixed him up a bit, his neck was too long as well. I think the sound is good, do you mean the running part

Well basically she's running at him to do a kick, i finished up the kick, but didn't want to show it yet. I like to leave stuff for the actually finished product. He's just standing there kinda playing it cool, so just watching her run at him. It'll all fall together as you say

loking better now, about the sound i meant that there is something missing, i do not suggest u to keep the sound like that, maybe add something.
although i can't say it until i'll see the finished project so maybe it is good.
hope to see some more soon :)

Ahh ok, well the sound does remain like that, but only for this part. It's the beginning of a scrap, the music kicks in a bit after the kick. Trust me, it does look odd this way, but together, it's like the silence before a huge brawl, suspense

Hey Nevermore, sorry I wasn't able to crit earlier but I was MIA for a few days. I really like the run cycle as well as the images of the girl. Her pant color really goes along with the scenary. The one thing that I didn't think fit in was the color of the kids skin. He looks a little to pale for the environment. I think he needs a little more shading as well to bring him up to the rest of the animation.

Thanks man
Ya the kid is suppose to be an albino, that's why he has extra pale skin. I've improved that little bit with him in it. Next time I post a clip i'll try to include it. Back to work for me

I'm sorry for the late respond, I'm really working hard these days on pre-production.

It Looks really cool, I like the blur one since it looks like from some cool shot right before something cool is about to happen, Even that I really hate Blur in most cases but who cares, if something is Working, IT IS WORKING !
can you tell more about that movie ? How long is it going to be ?
when do you think it will be finished ?
I can't wait to see it completed, well you got me from the first moment since it's Anime. (Don't get me wrong, I love much more other styles, but Anime is Hard working even that people think it's just "working with two's".

So far It looks promising, And I know that it's hard to show the real hot stuff from screenshots, so I have the feeling that your movie gonna kick some real asses around here !

Just a tip:
I think you should add some extra shading because it will make your movie more cinematic feeling and will blend the character with the background a bit more then it looks on the current screenshots.
I guess you're using only flash to produce it, but if you have access to any compositing program, Color match, and color correction will also do the extra cinematic look.

Keep up the good working !

thnks for the response, ya the screen shots are nothing than what it really is. The movie will probably be about 10 minutes. First scene is about a minute, the second is about a minute as well, third aiming for 4, and the last is unknown since i'm not there yet. I hope to have it finished by january. I got back tracked before cause I went through a whole stage of creating the characters and ideas, practices. An actually story to the characters and all. I tried to steer into half anime/half american, seems to work since i get different views.

I will try to show something really worth seeing soon, just wanted to work on more before then.

Ya i've just been sticking with flash for shading, stills don't look that great, but in motion it's alright. I'm trying to add more shading since I tend to lack with adding the necessary amount.

I will keep updating

what program do you use for colour corrections kayoto? what is it for? last time i head colour correction for broadcast was a bit dated and almost any colour can be used with todays technology.

kayoto

Color correction, and color match are only a minor process that YOU MUST DO if you want to blend your movie compositing to look more cinematic atmosphere (that was in really few words.. there is much more behind it).
Sometimes you are working on some specific format (take for example my format: PAL 720x576 25fps - Now when I'm working, drawing, painting within any software those colors are A LIE, that is one of the reasons while I do my final test using a TV-Monitor (you can also use regular TV-Set) to get HOW IT WILL LOOK when I will post it on TV (for broadcast purposes), and you will notice stuff like... RED is not so ...red and Purple isn't so.. Purple as your Monitor show you while working. there is a lot behind color orchestral and blending... I just tried to do it quick.
When I work, I used 2 monitors, a Cintiq, and a TV-Monitor for color check, and working with combustion in realtime for all the process (not only color correction, as I said it's only one step within the compositing).

another reason for color correction is: when you want ALL your scenes to have the look and atmosphere as it will shown threw a filter, that is a good way: (for example, I did a work of "cold" color correction when I composite "Brainwash" because that's what I liked to do since the storyboard). There are a lot of "PLUGINS" out there that are "READY TO USE" so you can choose: COLD, ELECTRIC, HOT, OCEAN, OLD MOVIE... etc...
Let's say that if I used some of those "ready to use" presets I would finish Brain wash about 3 days earlier then my deadline, but I don't like to take ready stuff and use them, I did the color correction using color match and did it scene by scene, and Didn't let some kind of preset do it automaticly for me for all the shots... (not saying it's bad, you can get nice results, I just like create my own). ...Color Correction is some kind of Art, what you red over here is only the tip of the ice about it. :Blahblahb

Software:
Most compositing software’s have color correction tools built-in (it's a very basic feature that is a must have on every broadcast production) and of course zillion of other compositing filters to use (with no need of any billion dollars cost plugins or addons).
Everybody like its own compositing software’s: Shake, Digital Fusion, Flame, Toxic, Combustion, After Effects, ContourTL, Flame and many others...
some composite programs are for online, and some for offline. (try read some books about compositing if you interested to learn a bit more by yourself, it’s better then what I can tell you, there is too much behind this subject).

Anyway ! :p
Personally, I use (AUTODESK) Discreet Combustion because this program kick some ass when it comes to real-time compositing and flowing fast with your projects, Unlike After Effects that disappointed me with RAM issues, CPU disadvantage and most of all the UI was really annoying even when I was sure "Wow it's Adobe I will Love it for sure ! " <== Wrong. It didn't let me feel free.

when it comes to post-production, Sometimes you don't have much time to spend "Fighting with the UI" or stuff like that, you gotta "merge with the tools" that's where I love Combustion to let me FLY while working and get whatever I like.

Last week when visiting a friend on a broadcasting studio, they own TOXIC ! I was sitting there and saw that I know the program, I was pretty sure that they used Combustion then I saw it’s toxic (nothing to compare the powers between the two) but since I already knew Combustion it looked very familiar to me, it was cool.

Attention:
I'm NOT saying that After Effects is Less good then Combustion, I just say that FOR ME Combustion do the job, and I know that when I will have my 3D Scenes to composite with my 2D Animation projects in the future, I will sure stick to combustion !

I really hope it helped a little bit, because I couldn't really explain "what is color correction" without a bit of background about what is compositing.
Some books/sources about compositing sometimes split into parts and for example COLOR CORRECTION only could be series of 2 books ! so you know why I said that my explanation above is VERY basic ….to think that color correction is only 1 thing behind of zillion other subjects LOL ! :D

Sorry about my bad English. :o

Awsome update and the animation is really starting to take shape. I do have one tiny con though. The male character eyes are not showing any emotion when he's avaoiding punches. I think you should tweak his eye movement a little, it would really boost the scene. I love the blur effect and I can't wait for the next update, it just keeps getting better.

thnks man, I would normally add emotion, but i'm trying to make him a more of a smooth none reacting character. Just like everything seems at ease.

When this flash is complete i'm gonna have a menu displaying other things such as characters. Here are the main three characters of my animation. Kara is the main, the other two are like second main. Tons of redos and such to develope these three, but right now the flash i'm doing is a fight between Kara and Edvard. Story basically is that Edvard is trying to stop Kara from going after her former master, Manic, who used her and murdered her family. (I'll tell the whole story in the flash)
Each character has thier own unique skill, Teagen can control wind currents, Kara has massive durability and Edvard can temporarily shut down or send extreme pain to muscles with the touch of his finger tips. All the characters will have bios and stats, etc..
These are finished yet, I still have to add shading

Agree with NOOB! Can't wait to see the whole story. lol

thnks, good cause she's the central character, which has to somewhat appeal the most. I can just kinda roughly tell what it is for now. Really roughly...

Bascially it starts with this dude named Manic who is ultra scary powerful, I really haven't come up with his power yet, still pondering. Anyways, he seeks out an apprentice which becomes Kara at the age of 5. He murders her family and makes it look like he saved her, she becomes loyal to him. Years pass, she's 18, she finds out the truth behind Manic somehow, haven't gotten that part down yet. She runs away, Manic moves on, never see him again until like waaay later. Kara all broken down with no home or friends is dicovered by Teagen who is involved in this peace unit within another town. They travel together when Kara finds out an organization called Project K is after her for her hidden power, which is something else besides durability. (I will show it in the animation) Project K is made up of top fighters who try to control the lands. This is where Edvard comes in, he's an ex Project K fighter who decided to leave over a dispute and is now being hunted down.

And this flash is about Kara finding out Manic has been sighted in the area, she abandoned Teagen to go kill him, but was intercepted by Edvard who only wants to stop her from getting herself killed.

done and done.

well, for what I can see:
she looks (in my opinion) the most interesting character of the three. Edvard looks a kind like Killuah (HunterXHunter, dunno if ya know), but a bit boring I think. Maybe he lacks just of detail...like a black skull on his shirt, dunno.
Teagan is better, but in comparision to Kara she is....*whatever* kind of this feeling. :)

So I favor Kara for the reason, that she looks interesting.
Black clothes, but blond hair! The other twos' hair has nearly the same color tone like their shirt or skirt. Dunno if it's that why I like her more, but the possibility is there.

So in my opinion they (characters in general) need some accesoires, or attributes that make them individual and interesting. So not everybody needs this, but I think it's a good deal.

the sound sinc was great, it really emphasised the speed and impact of the motion, if you watch it without the sound and then with the sound, it is so much better with it. the animation looks very smoothe and acurate, i can't wait to see the rest. the only suggestion that comes to mind is to have the pounding footseps only more distant while looking at the other character, i dunno if this is appropriate as they may be much too far away but just a thought.

neverm0re
10-02-2005, 08:08 PM
wmic - Ahh i c, I never watched hunterxhunter, he does look a bit plain I do agree, I wanted to use that to surpise, cause his actions will be wild, i'll have to animate it, heh. I can't really change anything now since i've already drew him in a million frames anyways.

Ya color is a huge thing, I went through tons, I can change Teagen's again since I haven't added her at all yet. The bad thing with adding more detail is having to redraw it over and over again, I try to keep it as simple as possible.

cidic - thnks man, I just took a shortcut in not including the distant sound of the footsteps, I don't find it totally necessary to include it and rather use that extra sound space for something else
