Now that I'm done with school and work for a while, I intend to get things going for this online toon that's been circling my head for a while. You see, I live in Guatemala, and there's not much being produced here, other than a couple of tv shows, and a film or two every couple of years (besides the excelent work being done for the big hollywood studios by studioC, but that all goes abroad). That's why I think a toon like this would turn some heads here.

The idea is a kind of a talkshow 2-3 minutes long, where characters related to the Guatemalan culture would interact humorously with a regular host; you know, politicians, characters from legends and Guatemalan stories, stereotypes and clichès.

Right now, I'm doing everything myself. I'm writing the scripts, recording the dialogues, and doing the animation work. Since it's more of a conversational comedy, I decided to go with an animation style similar of that of Todd Gallina, which is more jumpy, rather than smoother transitions. This symbol swapping technique allows for a faster animation workflow which will result in new episodes in less time. At least, I hope it will.

One aspect which is really important to me is that Guatemalans recognize elements of the local architecture in every short. Specially if it's going to be viewed by a potentially large audience of Guatemalans who live and work in the U.S. so the show will be either "shot" outdoors, or have some monuments in its background. I'm still working on that. For now, I can show you a drawing I did of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Guatemala City.

I had the picture embeded, but it turned out huge, and I hate it when people do that, so here's a link to it, :p :

I'm an economist, so don't expect too much of me, heh heh.

I would really love to hear what you guys think of the idea and of my drawing, since I've seen really outstanding talent around here, and think that you are probably the best judges.

I'm getting an "Error 403: Forbidden" on the picture.

Interesting idea, though. Good luck with it!

Great looking drawing! I really look foreward to seeing this; I work with many people from Mexico, Honduras, Guatamala, Columbia, etc. and have been working on my spanish. This would be good for me, and probably a big hit at work!:) :)

Really, are you working with people from Central America? Well get them to comment on my blog (http://www.guateanimada.blogspot.com). Maybe if I have people asking about it, I'll stop procrastinating.
