I discovered this forum from AWN.
I'm a female computer techie who is an animation wannabe.
Maybe someday I'll finally break down and make something.
I did make something in '99 for Y2K advertisement using flash but I somehow lost the .swf and .fla. All I have is the .exe.
I would love to make something for Halloween.

I knew somebody was going to ask that question.
I'll upload it to a website when I get home.
Remember, I'm not an animator, so go easy.

lol twas a bit short, and a bit simple.

good style,i think you should practice frame by frame style of animation instead of tweened.

Also buy the book called The Animators Survival Kit by richard williams, theres a link to it in the traditional methods forum.

:D don't worry we'll help you improve a step at a time.

I've browsed the "Animator's Survival Kit" at Border or Barnes. The book was wayyyy too advanced for me.
I did purchase Tony White's "The Animator's Workbook" a while ago and purchased "Cartoon Animation" by Blair a while ago.
I'm looking forward to doing something.

Yep, the ASK is not only required reading, it's often reffered to as "the bible" of the animation student! Every important concept you absolutely MUST know is in that one book! Don't even hesitate next time... just grab it and buy it! You wont regreat it! :D

like yourself, i'm more of a techie than designer... but i got myself the ASK, the animators workbook, the illusion of life and don bluths "art of storyboarding" so far. Theres still a long list of books that i will get. Flash is a great tool for those of us who have no training or background in animation. Saw your first piece of animation and I think its a great start :) keep trying and practicing and do post some of your works to show.
