Greetings,

(click on image for link to website)
is a creative 2d adventure game (planned to be released as freeware atm) seeking to stand out in the genre.
We have gathered a team with some exceptional talents for this very purpose. Our motivation lies in the things we learn, the people we meet along the way, the story of the game itself (It is a Monkey Island - inspired game, for who doesn't love pirates, gold and lots of voodoo, undead, colonials, cannibals and much, much more...), and a little glory seeking perhaps... (making a name for ourselves can't hurt, now can it?)
Now, to the point: We can still use an extra animator to lighten the workload and speed things up.
Our team:
Script and Programming - Tom "Electroshokker" Vandepoele
Art and Animations - Daniel "zyndikate" Thomas
Animations - Tzanko Tchangov
Detail Artist - Eyal Jamer
Music - Anders "A-hed" Hed
Concept Art and Dialogs - Micheal Cross
Dialogs- John Cusick
If you believe you posess the qualities we're looking for, you may contact us at wizard_writer@hotmail.com. You may also post a reply to this thread. Feel free to ask for more info, as I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have, and DO check out our website (http://www.t-vandepoele.be/pms).
Here are a couple of *NEW* working screenshots:

Ohh man, I would love to jump on this, I'm a huge MI fan and have been working on a MI animation myself wich I had to put on the backburner because I'm completely booked up atm. I'll definitely keep my eye on this project , I'm very interested in it.
Heres a loading screen which I'm working on still.

Too bad you're all booked up. We're only missing an animator and got pretty much every other angle covered. ;)
We've been working on this game for quite some time now, mostly defining the background story, script etc. whilest recruiting all the needed teammembers, who each could get started right away.
Same goes for the animator who joins us: you don't have to wait for the writers to finish (most of the part 1 script IS finished, except for some discussion on the dialogs which is still going on), you can get started right away!
(@Terro: btw, I'd love to see the finished loading screen you're making!)

You should try contacting Comlock , he's one of our members here and a great animator. If anyone can pull these animations off it's him.

Here's his Guybrush

He's also very busy but what ever he touches turns to gold.

Hey, thanks for the info/interest!
I sent a PM to both Comlock and Zwickel.
But don't let this stop anyone else from applying!
(hey, a game design team can never have too many animators!)

Like I said before, no time :C. in 3 weeks I have a dead line for 5 animations and some film footage. I also want to get Rat 2 out the way ( I ment to type episode 1 in that journal..) plus that character description I had was just confusing.

Huh?
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but it looks like you've replied in the wrong thread.
In any case, no word from Comlock yet. I'll better send him a mail him instead of a PM.

Still looking for animators to help us out. Currently we've got Zwickel who'll be joining us after his exams (around half May)
but we need others, too! (if we want to get something done, that is)
especially in the field of character animations
Here's some incentive...

I could help with some character illustration & some animation though I'm a little green.
I find a little time every day to work with Flash. I am wrapping up my first Flash cartoon in the next few weeks. I could sneak a little MI art in to my days.
I love adventure games. There was a time when I was designing my own AGI / SCI games inspired buy the Sierra “Quest” titles. Send my some info at:
tbrotoons@yahoo.com
PS- Those backgrounds are perfect. Comlock's Guy is insane.
Too bad you cant rope him in.

Well, it's been a while now. Time to give you a status update and again request if there's anyone interested in helping us out with the animations.
Currently, we still have no :( animations done, but the game script is in it's final stages and the backgrounds are almost all done (save from coloring)
So any animator joining us would know immediately what to do...
I realize you all got busy lives (as do we on the team), but if you could spare a few hours every week for this project, that would be great.
Contact me!

Bump and update:
Im the background/general artist of the team and Im glad to say that we're closer then ever to get the chapter1 done.
We have had animators working, but looking for more to take off some of the workload on them.
We have flash-builds finnished of the character and there isnt that much major animations left, but some. So you would be able to start animation in just a few days.
If you are interested, let us know and also let us see some of your work.
Any questions or such, post here or email me or electroshokker.
Here is a working screenshot with the character on the background, havent been showed before but hoping it shows what we're working on:

This is starting to look real great guys. Man if I only had the time I'd love to contribute. Maybe I can squeeze something in once this semester is over.
Whats first on the agenda?

We're hoping to get an animator as soon as possible, if we dont the works still goes on and it will probably be done in 3-5 months.
The animator would be free to choose what he would start with, everything from "simple" animations as picking up stuff, talkcycle, talk gestures (I say simple since the flashbuild is done) to more complex as ingame cutscenes like loading/shooting a cannon, climbing a ladder.
One of our animators are aldready working on the walkcycles of the maincharacter, and I have myself done one for the support character.

It's been a while.
We've just finished creating ourselves a brand new website, and take the opportunity to inform you of a name change. The game is now called 'Picaroon - The Lost Years'. (this to avoid any legal issues)
We could always use a hand in the animating department to lighten the workload.
The game is still non-profit, in case you're wondering, we ask nothing but a little of your time if you're willing.
Well, I don't have to repeat myself, check out the first post of this thread, which I've updated. (with *new* screenshots, amongst others)
And even if you've no interest in helping us out, DO check out our new website. (http://www.t-vandepoele.be/pms)
Cheers,
Tom

Greetings all. We're still looking for animators, as there's lots of stuff that still needs to be done.
We only need a few more character animations, it's mostly "action" animations (tiny cutscenes) and possibly some ambient animations that need to be done.
We've got pretty much every other angle covered, so:
If any of the following applies to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. (via PM or email, mailadress is on our website)
- If you love Monkey Island games
- If you like to work on a bigger than average community project
- If you like adventure games made in stunning 2D graphics
- You just got waaay to much time on your hands
- You got a little time to spare and like to share your experience
Any help you can give is appreciated. The only requirement is you show something you've recently made.
