Just saw on the ToonBoom site that they're having a sale on Studio 3.5 till March 30--$100 off!

The details and promo code are on the ToonBoom site.

This just might be the thing that pushes me to finally buy ToonBoom.

They always have those specials going on from time to time;). I checked my records, and I paid about $250, so it was about $150 off:D :D :D.

I'm thinking about upgrading. v3.0 is what I have, now. But I can wait... it only costs $100 to upgrade:).

yeah, I bought 3.5 on the "last day" of the special in january, which was $329... however when I checked the next day, it was still $329, but it was a February special, which is obviously much different than a january special. At least march turned out to be a different price, I guess I can live without the $29. Maybe april will be $250. Regardless I can almost guarantee that by christmas it will be free :D

Haha... I think more likely this sale just means that TBS 4.0 is just around the corner.

But, I don't mind being a half version behind if it means saving a hundred bucks...

that would be nice, I've only used 3.5, but from what I understand & have seen in the tutorials (done in V3.0) they have realy put a lot of changes into 3.5. There has been an ongoing suggestion thread on the TBS site for everyone's 4.0 wishlist, I probably won't upgrade on day one, but if they put enough new stuff in then I will be all over it.

If you're on the fence right now though, all I can say is the program is more than worth $300 imho. I don't know much about flash, but anything Ive heard is that TBS allows more of a traditional approach as well as the purely digital, whereas flash really doesn't follow the traditional animation workflow. (or at least not as much) I guess it depends on how you like to do your work really.

Well, I bought it...

Just downloaded and getting ready to burn a disc or two for backup.

Not sure if it was a good idea, seeing as how I won't be able to play with it for a while and it'll probably drop to $250 next month, but I couldn't take a chance at missing out on this deal.

Looking forward to making my next personal project a ToonBoom one!

For those readers interested you can go to Pre-Release Notes (http://www.toonboom.com/products/toonBoomStudio/featuresDetailed.php?WT.mc_id=e_np_072707) to read about the upcoming version 4.0 of Toon Boom Studio. The actual release is scheduled for September although upgrades may be available sooner. These additional enhancements continue to make TB Studio a solid value as a 2D production application. -JK
