Hello peeps!

I'm into making short films but i need software to alter the video footage. Imagine a james cameron style 'video transmission uplink' of a person talking. This video footage should be unstable and prone to static interference. My question is this:

Can anyone please provide some options for computer software that would be capable of manipulating the footage to recreate this effect? Preferably also capable of applying 2d animation for example animating some electrical discharge or the transmission being terminated or something.

Currently i use lightwave 3d for modelling and rendering but i need to manipulater the footage. I use final cut pro for editing.

I'm aware of shake and adobe after effects but i get the impression these are more 'compositing' tools.

Anyway some advice would be awsome(apologies if i've posted in an innappropriate forum)

Thanks heaps!!!

I'm not real familiar with FPC, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't whip something like what you're talking about up inside that program.

No matter what, you're probably going to have to do the effect by hand, manipulating several effects along with a series of images or other video composited on top.

Besides your EOC (editor of choice), I'd be looking at either After Effects or Flash. But really, with the right images, the right video fx, and a good editing program, this should be fairly straight forward using what you've got.
