Keyframing Volume level in Premier or After Effects?

Can it be done? I would like to turn the music in my showreel down for some parts, but I'm not sure how it can be done in any of these programs. Anyone have any experience doing this? Or a tut somewhere?

Give a effect(Volume) from Project menu to audio. and set key frames.
which part you want to low ,high or mute ,just set that keyframe down.
