OK I have most of the first episode to my anime written down already...
and I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to be doing this though...
because Ive read my own writings, and its kind of like I'm reading a book,
does it not matter?
or is there a specific way a cartoon or a show should be written?

sorry ahead of time it theres already threads up explaining
or answering similar questions to mines

As what I've learned, their is a specific way of writting a script. But I don't know how because I'm not into script writing I just do the technical part... You could research on basic script writing..;)

Well, the most important thing is to keep it in the perspective of the medium you are working with, and to prioritize getting the message understood by the reader over anything else. Since you are working in animation, it's not really a good sign that your script reads like a book. Usually that means there will be some things that won't translate into your animation well (the stuff that makes it feel like a book) and there will be missed oppurtunities to impliment things unique to animation in order to potray your message.

My suggestion would be to re-do the "script" as a storyboard instead. Draw the whole thing out. You can (and should) use simplified gestures of your characters/settings and try to put more 'showing' into how you plan it out rather than 'telling'. Use what you have written now as notes and try not to copy it (except for maybe dialogue, but see if there places where a character is explaining his feelings and replace that with images of him/her showing those feelings instead). Hell, if you can, see if you can storyboard the whole thing without words, try as hard as you can to explain everything about what's happening the whole episode using only gestured images, and then throw in the words after you finish. Even if you can't explain things visually well, it will be good practice which will increase your ability to do that and therefore cause you to make better animations.

If I can find a link to the blog entry that inspired this advice, I will edit the post with it, because he explains it much more eloquently than I how animation writing is done better outside of a "writing" context.

Sataned - This is a post I made recently sharing my scriptwriting process. Episode 1 Script (http://pirateproductiontoons.blogspot.com/2007/04/episode-1-script.html). It may give you some ideas that you're welcome to take or leave, and I "loosely" follow the hollywood format for scripts in general. I can take some shortcuts of course since I'm only submitting it to myself, but it will give you the idea. If you're looking for more specifics on script formats & such, a google search should get you there pretty quick.
