:blink:so yeh,why are the higher versions of toonboom so complex and look like something produced by nasa?

seriously,does anyone not agree?

compared to something like ctp pro (which they use at gobelins) its looks like its packed fulla unneccasry tools and hard to navigate around anything....and the zoom tool isn't even in the default layout.......the zoom tool man!!!!!!!!!:banghead

I'm not really looking foward to using this at school,when i know i can do far better in other software.This means i'm gunna have to teach myself toonboom for the rest of the summer.since my school is sponsered by toonboom i don't have a choice.****...it won't let me blur a frame..at least..easily.
ALL the friggin icons don't even look like what they do!!

lol, like anything else man, if it's a new program that you aren't used to, of course it's gonna take some time to learn & get aquianted with. Are you already using harmony (that's what your school uses right?) or are you practicing in studio?
I can help you with some of the studio stuff, but I've got no experience with harmony. BTW TBS 4.0 will include feathered edges & blurs amongst other things.

also default hotkeys for drawing or camera view in TBS:
Z = zoom out, X = zoom in :D
*edit* some more helpful ones:
ctrl + alt = rotating animation disc
A = back a frame, S= forward a frame
D = previous element, F = next element
C= rotate 15 deg counterclockwise, V = rotate 15 deg clockwise
Space = grabber tool
And the number keys select & cycle through the drawing/sceneplanning tools
hope some of that helps, fire away if you have more quesitons

no..seriously kdog,i understand what your saying about being new to software...but if your used to other software like..animo...or say ctp....its kinda becomes a *why should i have to* situation when u look at the comparisons....

goddamn! i would appreciate your help though.I'm practicig in toonboom digital pro PLE at the moment,cos its the closest thing to harmony.

as for harmony,yeh its not available to buy direct,so i wouldn't expect youto have experience,its more a studio/institution thing.My school made the switch from animo to this last year.so i have no choice.
but i'm sure i'll get used to it..........i just wouldn't reccommend it..ever...well that is,until i get used to it

its like 299 quid here in the u.k so thats probably about $325 (i might buy it to work on my own stuff)

It's looking a little more like ToonBoom Solo in that screenshot.
We had one or two lessons in that program, but they only served to confuse me even more!

apparently digital pro is the new name for solo...or at least its replaced it.

you can download the PLE and they also have 4hrs of free video tuts with it,but they are really slow-paced and make u want to skip...well..everything.but i gotta force myself to watch em.

I agree that Toonboom Digital Pro is hard but I had an easy time learning to use
Toonboom Studio V3.0 though! I had so much fun using Toonboom Studio. Tooboom Digital Pro has so far been a major pain that I might consider Toonboom Studio 4 instead! However I'm taking advantage of a freebie!

If only Adobe had a Personal Learning Edition of Adobe After Effects CS3/Adobe After Effects CS3 Pro and Premier CS3!

A 30 day free trial of complex software isn't enough! Adobe shouldn't assume that everyone is a master or intermediate user of their software(suites)!

i don't really find after effects that difficult.

especially with resources like www.creativecow.net which has about 70 tuts on it.

or even video co pilot has some nice ae tuts.
