Marvel Joins Hands With Indian Animation Co for TV Series

NEW DELHI, Oct 17 Asia Pulse- Global entertainment and licensing company Marvel Entertainment entered into an agreement with Indian animation company First Serve Toonz (FST) to produce a brand new animated television series based on Marvel's popular X-Men character.



Under the terms of the agreement, FST, which operated its animation studios in India, will begin pre-production immediately on 26 episodes in a 2D-3D combination of characters and background and the initial episodes are expected to be ready for worldwide distribution by summer 2007, its CEO P Jayakumar said in a release here.

FST will produce the series while both Marvel Studios and FST will oversee the creative direction, it said adding international TV and DVD distribution rights will be managed by FST whereas Marvel retains distribution rights for the United States. FST is a newly created joint venture between First Serve International whose chairman is tennis legend turned entertainment entrepreneur Vijay Amritraj and Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd headed by Jayakumar.

Nice! I have enjoyed every iteration of the X-Men in animated form (yes, I even have the pilot that was released on video), so I can't wait to see how this one turns out!

Oh but this brings back sad memories. I had (emphasis on had) a mint condition X-Men No. 1 (it wuz like 15¢!!!) until my little bro took a black marker to all the pages and then ripped it to shreds. :Xead:

Ah, he was only two at the time. The funny thing is, he's a comics collector now and is the one that told me what that sucka would be worth today! :eek:

thats one of the reasons i gave up on comics and moved to animation,because i can't be arsed to look after em.and ...because they are still images...they don't move damnit!!! :D

Did you reveal the shocking revelation that he actually destroyed that "sucka"? Or does he already know? That would be something if he didn't! ;)
