For anyone that pre-ordered or was thinking about checking it out, TBS 4.0 was officially released today. Lotsa cool new stuff in there.

Oh yeah! Just downloaded it about an hour ago :D

I'm expecting to get my Wacom Intuos3 9x12 Tablet next Wednesday the 12th. Once I get that, I'll practice drawing with it and eventually do some animation work. Nothing too complex to start ;).

Now, to check out the app in more depth......

Edit: Actually, it was released September 6th. But close enough.

I'm thrilled with it so far Willy. The addition of feathered edges opens tons of new possibilities that you would have needed another program for in prior versions. Or at the very least would have taken a huge amount of time. Also they have vastly improved how they handle bitmaps now. You can now import them into drawing elements instead of just image elements, and they are placed in a "vector box." Now you can play with the box & also can draw/color/erase/cut out parts of your bitmap. It's great for cutout stuff especially if you're more comfortable working with paper than digital drawing.

There are plenty of other features, but those are the two biggies, oh! Dockable & floating windows! That's the other one, very much improved & customizable workspace. You can arrange tabs & windows however you want them & save your custom workspaces or use one of the defaults. Very handy. Dual monitor issues have also been addressed & TBS 4.0 works just fine with 2 screens now. (there were some pressure sensitivity issues before)

So again, there are a bunch of other little things that I'm still finding & playing with, but just the three things I mentioned have already made it well worth the upgrade imho.

I recently came on to these tutorials using the new bit map handling feature in Toon Boom. Certainly not traditional cell animation but fun none the less.

Those are sweet, JK has a bunch of great tuts on many different styles of animation. His blog archives are well worth the read.
