View Full Version : Animators needed!

I'm starting with a new project, called JAP.NED.

It's basically a short animation film, divided in three or more pieces.

I will use the three languages that I mentioned in the title. So I need voice actors (but I'm still working on the script so no hurry there).

I also need animators. I will send you a short animation I was working on (until my pc crashed) to let you know what my standard is (I will work with you if necessary). I need people for backgrounds and actual animation, character design etcetera.

This is my concept (sketches will be send when asked):

The story takes place in a province, which is surrounded by big walls. Outside there are only poor people, but the government doesn't let the civilians inside the walls know about it (it's a metaphor to the world we live in but then put into a smaller 'world'). A girl pretends to be rich, and lives inside the province with her parents, in the poor side. She pretends to be rich amongs friends, and when they get a suit (used for climbing buildings) she wants one too. But she doesn't have money. So the first episode is about her making her own suit, and this episode is also used as an introduction to the world the story takes place.

Next episode(s) consist of rebels who try to tell the truth, and spread the word. The main character (we shall call her X) gets to know what is going on, and uses her suit and the rebels to fight the government (or so she tries). Story to be written.

If you are still reading I shall go into detail about the world, but first let me explain what I provide people with:

Animators will get video if possible, to motion capture certain moves (climbing is to hard to do just by hand). Voice actors will get a script, and a couple of Dutch voices (with subtitles). I make the music, and I will tape all the soundeffects. Input or ideas are ALWAYS good. So it won't be like you're just working for me, you will be able to share ideas.

Now the world:

One big province, with one river through the middle. There are two large buildings in which meat and vegetables are made (forbidden to enter for civilians). There are large walls surrounding these buildings, obscuring the view. On the other side is a place called the wasteland. It's a piece of the town, destroyed. It's destroyed by the government when trying to kill rebels, and it is also surrounded by walls (not many civilians know about this place, only the older ones, yet they refuse to tell about it). People live in boring apartments, with all the stores on top. That's why there are a lot of bridges between building, so people can walk across them.

On the main ground there are roads, but they are only used by people on bicycles or mopeds. Cars are for the rich, and few are in the province. Boats are for the government only. The main vehicle to go from one side of the province to another is the train, or the subway. As a last resort for young people, there are the suits, called 'Pandej'. These suits provide better grip, stronger muscles etcetera. These are illegal, and are used by rebels and some children (rebels have stronger and more elaborate suites than children of course).

In the center of the province life is good, but at the outside, in the poor area's, the atmosphere is like Half life 2. A lot of soldiers protecting the walls, violence, poverty, not much to be happy about.

But this isn't the only way the civilians are different from each other. Aside from the poor and rich, you have the modern and old-fashioned people. Modern use things like suits, mopeds, cars and eat different kinds of food. Old-fashioned people use bicycles and their feet.

So if this sounds appealing to you, note me, or even better, send me an email to soundstorm.music@gmail.com!

Voice actors aren't necessary anymore because a American company wanted to do that for free :).

For people who think this will be to big, or they have to stay involved:

-I use flash, and it's quite easy
-If you want, you can only make the small animations in the background; thus your name will be in the credits, but you won't need to do much and you don't have to worry about finishing something on time.

And I may need people to help me with backgrounds, which also just takes time but isn't hard or anything!

Please, on my own this will take so much time, but with a few people to help it will be so much easier.
