I didn't know where to post this so I post it here. About a month ago, I talked to ,er.. e-mail the script writer of my Zelda oot series project, I told him that, me and the other members of the project wanted Link (the main charater) to have no spoken dialogue, he would be interrupted each time he would want to speak or voice his opinions, by someone or something.
The script writer didn't like this idea, he said that making Link a silent character wouldn't be a good idea and he wouldn't grow as a character and it would effect the the storyline and the silent type dosen't work with hero type characters etc,etc :Blahblahb He is still willing to write the script but has little confidence that story would work out. :(

So my question is can a silent hero type character who is the main character of story, could grow as a character and mature, and not be boring or effect the story? I hope this makes sense.

Are you kidding me? If your piece depends on speech it will be a weak animation in my opinion. Link never talks in the games and he gets his emotions across, look at Windwaker for example! You can always use grunts and what not, but I think your animation would be much stronger if you find ways around speech, its more universal than too. That's one of the good things about French animation, you don't have to understand French to understand their animation.

OF COURSE!
A silent protagonist is essential for the Zelda series. There's no part where Link say something. NEVER! The player (or the audience) only get the point by hearing others talking about Link.

The only thing I remember where Link spoke was the american Zelda animation series in the 80ties! Horrible, trust me!!
He sounds like an annoying boy:
quote: Excuuuuuuuuse me, princess! (when he and Zelda fell in a river)

Look at Conan, in specific the original movies. There was very little actual dialogue, and yet he was a very defined "hero" that showed tremendous growth as a character.
Im thinking maybe your script writer just doesnt like a challenge!
