I like animating in FLASH CS3, but that is the only thing I've learned to do with it. I'm struggling to create my first website in Dreamweaver. I want visitors to be able to view my demo reel and animations.
Is Quicktime video best for this or a Flash video?

I tend to use Quicktime for delivery, but I like FLV for the Web.
There's a couple reasons for this.
1) Flash Player is the most commonly installed media player (about 40% more than Quicktime Player according to a recently published book I'm reading).
2) It's incredibly easy to produce multiple copies of your reel at different sizes and bit rates. The Flash Video Encoder (separate from Flash) will let you set these up in a queue and do the work while you're eating pizza.
And 3) Because a lot of my site is in Flash already, it's very simple to work with the FLV's, just drag and drop. Then you're free to customize interfaces and even add interactivity if you're into that. I'm typically not...
Anyway, just my opinion.
Post your site when you're done.

Good to know. I really like your site. The interface on the video is cool. I also want to make an animated intro like the one you created. If I'm using CS3 and I export a .FLV file... will a person with a Flash 7 player be able to view it. Can I save it as a Flash 7 flv?

:D
I wanna say that FLV was only supported from version 8 and up, but I could be wrong. Either way, I tend to expect people who want to view my site to keep pretty up to date with their Flash Player. I also have a link at the bottom of my page to update your player.

On your place I would use flv for lower quality, like for example for a website. and High quality .mov if people would like to save it and see the real quality of the works.
As for the flash player version you shouldn't care. Anyone with an internet connection should have flash player updated. It's free, and a lot of people use it.
