Today was the last day of the exhibit, I made it just in time for the last few hours. I only got a couple of candid pics before they warned me they'd take it away. Pixar's got copyright issues.
The exhibit was freaking amazing, so much stuff of such astounding quality. I'll post my pics when I get the chance.
Btw, how do I post pics into a thread? Host em on imageshack and paste the html...or what?

Image shack wont allow you to display the images hosted there directly in the thread. You can post a link to the image shack image or if you have a web site, upload it there and use the little image button in the reply window to insert a image link.

I assure you, these pics do no justice to the exhibit. For one, it's a friend's digital camera so I had to keep it on auto. And for another, the shots I did get were stealthy splinter cell ordeals entailing misdirection and ninja powder.
First, the pamphlet:

I flipped through it and immediately got pumped for storyboards and sequencing. I hit the entrance and snapped some quick shots. They had this huge wall of color studies of the tank fish in Nemo:

And a bit beyond that a few cases of maquettes:
Sully (early sully in the back had tentacles):

Evil kid from Toy Story, even more evil looking with a Pinhead grid:

Lamp mouth maquette (awesome):

Then I proceeded downstairs to theaters one and two (to the meat of the exhibit.) Down the wall of the escalator were enlarged frames of Lasseter's rough animation of Andre. I am ashamed I didn't think to snag a shot of this : /
And here I hit some real concept stuff, a huge digital print of the Incredibles waterfall, collages, paintings... This one caught my eye, to compare to the maquette:

And bam! Cameras not allowed, Pixar's orders.
Sorry so few and so poor, I did my best for youse who aren't in NYC. Here's a final scan to make up for it:

I'll say my favs of the exhibit were a) an animatic of the Incredibles sequence of Dash running from/fighting those flying disc things. The animatic was so professional and so polished, it could've been the early polish shots of a 2-D feature. I'm talking motion blur, animated characters, composites of early 3-D. Just really solid work. b) "color story" work on nemo and toy story. I wasn't aware of this style of pre-production, but it's really wonderful. Essentially, its long strips of story in full color pastel (gorgeous pastel work, really) kinda strung together as if flowing to the next bit of story ala a graphic novel. I think it's an advanced way of color testing through entire sequences.
There was a lot more work! I don't think I found everything in two and a half hours, but I will say they spread some stuff out too far into the other galleries.
Great exhibit. The MoMA book was out of stock and out of print :( Gotta gets my hands on one of those.
