no i'm not gonna get into a habbit of animating sticks, just did it to try and practice on showing the weight shifting, but i noticed everything here is almost pysicaly impossible after animating it but meh, still c&c though :D

http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jump7db.swf

as you can tell this hasn't been inbetweened, couldn't be bothered cause i didn't like the way it was coming along still c&c though haha

Looks pretty good. Only real things I noticed were 1), the first guy's feet were really flat against the ground line, he always had one sticking out... which is fine, but the line could cause confusion, and 2) the smoke poofs outwards, like it came of an explosion, or some ninja trick, whereas standard smoke billows up in almost linear progression, at least, in a cartoon sense. Like you wouldn't see your animation coming out of a chimney, because it looks like it has a sudden cause.

But all in all, very impressive, better than I'm doing for sure, I still have issues keeping my characters the same shape apparently. And i liked the mid-air spin on the first one, had a spiffy, stretch and squash moment.

Good stuff, hope to see more.

ty for the reply, the smoke is supposed to be from some sort of explosion, lol i'm very aware that smoke coming from a chimney would look nothing like that hehe still thanks man :D

Hey Jabronimon,

The first one is cool but just remember the ball bounce. as the character looses height he should slow down some in his air transition. Also the takeoff and the landing should have some speed to them and the settling in ur anticipation is too long.

The second one i really couldn't stare at it too long. The strobing effect it really bugged me where I couldn't look at it.

The 3rd the explosion is cool just keep an eye out on the way ur smoke disappears in the last couple of frames.

Over all good work tho and keep them coming :D

Fixed it so that you can view it without the flashing of the frames that have yet to be drawn :p so Lion O feel free to c&c, remember these are just the basic keyframes

The chracter with the big sword does look like Cloud, I have nothing to crit on the aniticipation nor the smoke effect.

The jump animation is very well done axcept for the part when he hits the wall. Something is missing on impact, I think he falls a little to stiff. Try arching his back a tad.

i agree with greg that there ia something not there in the impact on the wall,i think there was a little sumthin in A.S.K bout that, something about stretching before the moment of impact, and then snapping into the wall.

yeh i didn't understand what i just said either....go buy ASK. :p

Okay this crit is a little harsher than normal so brace yourself. No harm meant at all. Just keep workin'

This is all about the first one with the stick dude.
That anticipation feels oddly emphasized. It's not really a big anticipation if it is one at all. It's more of a transfer of weight to keep him from falling over, rather than anticipating a movement. The part where he crouches is an anticipation. You're also filling in frames by stretching the head at the wrong time. Like when he lands, right before the anticipation. The head isn't moving fast enough to be stretched at that point. It might feel like you're doing something technical but you really need to stick to the circle shaped head. I would avoid using the stretchy thing until you have a stronger grasp on movement.
For the jumping part, he sort of moves through the air in a choppy way. He gets up, turns, freezes, and then lands. lion_o mentioned the bouncing ball thing. He's definitely right about that. You need to show the entire path of the guy moving through the air in an accurate way.
I dunno why you called that thing weight because it doesn't demonstrate weight very well. There's that gravity defying jump thing. Also, I assume that the big fat sword would be really heavy. He just moves it around as if it were made of styrofoam. If you're gonna animate heavy objects, you need to show that the character is doing work to put the objects in motion.
On the side there's minor things like consistency and frames that don't fit the motion and stuff.
And stop using free transform to make additional frames. That prevents you from showing authentic movement of the masses of the character cause they're just being stretched rather than moving. Just draw the frame. Reserve free transform for when you're being super lazy.

So yeah. Just keep animating and keep drawing and stuff. :P
