I also have a problem keeping the same size of an object through an animation, so I wanted to practice keeping a mass while distorting it's shape, so this kind of starts off like more of a water balloon. PLEASE CRITIQUE! I am new at this, so any suggestions by anybody would be greatly appreciated!!!:o

hehe focus more on just making the ball bounce and making decent arcs,a link to a good bouncing ball thread on this forum is at the bottom of april challenge thread.

don't bother with unneccasary panning backgrounds, colour or deformation. We like to see pretty stuff yes,but just focus on the challenge at hand :D

i like it,keep goin with it,more bouncy bouncy :D

Nice animations Pixel, but I do think your straying a bit. Concentrate on the Bouncig Ball and flag in the wind only, and try to out skill the competition.

 Sorry. I think I got confused about 'movement'. Here (http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bouncyball6on.swf) is a bouncy ball.:o

Noob we need to get us some other judges so thatwe can comment more on these, but since we got a gag order all I can say is "Good Work" and sorry about any confusion. :D

Ha! That's allright, as long as I am on the right track!! Shouldn't the other entry people be commenting on each others work? Here (http://img346.imageshack.us/my.php?image=flag4zm.swf)is a flag. Ummm...I've never done anything like this before so I have some work to do on the folds. Right now I think it looks more like a hankercheif on a car antennae than a massive flag..:D

****! I thought I was the only one that was going to use the stage edges to bounce the ball off of. Everyone is!!! Oh well. Nice Job Pix. Very smooth and I (IMHO) think the shadow should be mandatory, but what the hell do I know? That ball freakin' near follows the same path as mine.

I'll be submitting soon. Great job bud.

IMHO? Sorry, I'm not up to date on my anagrams. Is that your health care provider?:D
I figured with any kind of arc and without the ball not naturally stopping it would otherwise go off the stage. Plus the bounce led to some interesting changes! Thank you for the compliments! Looking foreward to your (ball bounce? ball motion?) um...submission!

Nope, not my health care provider but it should be, In My Humble Opinion that is.:D :D

looking good pixel, the ball one doesnt seem right to me, it comes down slow'ish then hits the wall and speeds up so it bounces off each wall, i think it would only bounce off the right then tap the left and like stop in the middle before it hits the right wall again. but im not too sure...

Everything is really good, except the ball's bounce :|

Great, Thanks for the observations! I am not sure either about the ball after it hits the side wall...it seems natural to me. I think that it would apparently speed up, though, because the force is directed more horizontally and the upward arc is much smaller. I think that the bounce itself might be too slow. I actually added some keyframes because it was jittery looking.
I'll have to go back and try your suggestion! Keep it coming - other people's imput it immensly valuable!:)

Nice first attempt on the ball bounce. Your ball seriously floats though. THe flag attempt is good too, but the timing is a bit slow on it for how much the flag is moving around.

Yea, I'm working on the flag thing. I've noticed that the top of the flag ripples should angle towards the top left of the flag, as this is where the weight of the flag is anchored. I'm not sure how to make the ball not seem so floaty. I need to go out and get an ol kickball and bounce it around the apartment here:o . Thank you for the insight. Please keep checking back, as I will be making more attempts as time permits!

pixel your flag is amazing in detail! (from frame 5 and on, that is),i think you exagerated a little with the ball though :) .
I wish you good luck, may the animator with best potential win! ( because your skill is obviously higher than mine ).

Thanks! Good eye on the flag. I wasn't sure how to make a waving flag so I just went for it! About frame 5 I seemed to be getting a feel for it. The flag thing is very difficult to get a grasp of. Only three short weeks to work it all out. After I get around to a better flag I will have to go back and take another try at the ball. I swear it seems right to me.:o
I am not sure if I am necessarily a better animator, but looking at your ball bounce, I'm sure we have the same bowling style!:D

hmmm pixel, that flag looks much better, if you make a decent background, we might have a definite candidate for 1st place.
on some of your frames however, the flag folds too random, but that's just the way i see it.

Merci beaucoup, Msr. Rat!(Sorry, that's about all the French I remember...) ;)
Kame - Thanks, also. A definate improvement, indeed. I think I have a much better feel for the flag movement now. Thanks for your insight - will look at that. I will now return to working on the ball (between work, school, and marriage). I am not sure, but I don't think that the background matters here. (I thought that the blood red looked nice with it...) Either way, only two weeks left!

Mornin Pix,

I had to say something when I saw your flag wave. I love the shape you chose and the movement is exceptional and the colors too.(very professional)

Very nice work Pixel. You did a real good job at loosing the loop of the flag motion. Very important observation.

PS: Great reference video, lol

http://www.gifguy.com/ballnewtest.swfIs THIS (http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ballnewtest26kq.swf) bounce any better? I am trying to go less 'mechanic' and more motion oriented...(?). Please keep up the comments!:) :) :)
