This is my first animated short for school, Jack and the Comicshop. Everybody had to do a Personal Project. One girl made a guitar, one guy made a whole bucnh of PS tutorials, another made a documentary about paintball. I made an animated short. I had too little time to build my animation stand, *and* learn animation, *and* gather the materials, *and* actually do it. If I had more time it would've been real animation, but now I did just limited animation, which I hate when it's done traditionally.

I used the software (Dogwaffle, Debugmode Wax) from my free software animation tutorial, which is somewhere here on AF. I used Windows Movie Maker, which is why sometimes the sounds are not sync with the animation, and sometimes entire pieces of music were gone! :D

Also, the voices are all mine, adjusted in MAGIX Audio Studio. The music was done either on my PSR-290 keyboard (not great, but it works!), or Propellerhead Reason 3.0.
Great thanks go to S.A. Welland (kwieskita.deviantart.com) for helping me with the backgrounds.

Please take into consideration that I'm fifteen years old, I'm Dutch (which means I'm, focused on spending as little money as possible), and that this was done little time after school.

ENJOY!
Hope you like it!

I first wanted to make a 10 min. short, then 7 min, then 5 min. and then I just worked until I couldn't come up with anything. :D :D :D :D

That's pretty great, man - considering you made the backgrounds and all the characters and animation and sound yourself. Without knowing that it's pretty clunky as a standalone project. Like the loop of the dude on a horse has a line that wasn't matted out on one frame, so it flickers...

But still, that's a lot of hard work! You've a finished project under your belt, and that counts for bunches. Keep it up:D

Rage, I'm really suprized that you can create such a balance at your age. The music really ties everything together, and although it may not be of the best quality it is very balanced and feels natural. The camera pans and characters are great, Elvis as the King, lol.

It had to be a struggle to work in all the voices and create the music yourself. I use Reason 2.5, it's a great tool , but I also know that it takes a lot of patience to learn it.

Over all I think that your great effort deserves a feature spot on AF and you deserve 2 Silver Talents http://www.animationforum.net/forum/images/awards/silver.gifhttp://www.animationforum.net/forum/images/awards/silver.gif for this Animation and the work it took.

Congratulations :)

Your log has been updated.

PS: I placed a default image into our features rotation for you. If you would like a custom image instead, please email me a 200X100 image for the "Jack and the Comic Shop" to greg@animationforum.net (greg@animationforum.net) or PM me with a link to the image.

 WOW!!! Thank you so much!
Yeah, my computer was just to slow to clean the line up... It was so close to the edge I would paint outside the canvas. The poblem with Dogwaffle is that if you paint outside the canvas, it shuts down, just like that. To prevent myself from pulling my hairs out, pulling my clothes off and jumping out of the window from madness, I just left it there. Can't wait to get a Mac. BE WARNED FOR SLOW PROGRAM! :D

Yeah Reason 3.0 was hard in the beginning. When I didn't have it yet I practised with the trial version. Also I used stuff like Fruity Loops before, which made the leap to Reason easier.

Nice job Rage. I especially liked your pan and zoom techniques. You've got a great eye for that. Excellent project! More bud, more!

The shot the pans up from OTS of the character to the top of the mountain shows your understanding of how things in the foreground moving quick than things in the distance... nice observation man! Keep up the great work.

cheers,
MM
