Howdy everybody,
I'm a student in Architecture, and just recently starting doing animation. Just thought I'd get some critiques on a few of the characters I've drawn. Are there any active story boards where people collaborate? I saw the set of posts in the western theme, but I haven't seen anything else like that.
The frog is from a current animation making fun of the Budweiser frogs.

This shark was done by Addicting Games, Mad Shark... but I wanted to see if I could draw it.

This is my version of the little mermaid, she was used in a short where she was... umm, disposed of by the above shark.

Any comments would be great. Also I'm having trouble animating the top frog, due to the fact he has varying line weights. Any ideas on how to manage that? I've been doing a mixture of symbols and frame by frame animation. Thanks for all advice!
Ps. Is there a spell check?

Welcome to AF Jon.
When working in Flash, try to stick to a specific zoom setting, this should fix those lines for you. When you change zooms , then the brush lines also change their thickness for some reason.
Your art is looking good. The frog could use some shadows/hightlight.

Terro - Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to work in some shadows on the frog. For the animation part, I'm not sure but I don't think the zoom is what my problem is, I draw with a tablet and the line width changes if I draw a frame by frame animation, and it gives it that really old Simpsons cartoon style. But I'll give it a try and see if that helps!
cartuneman - Howdy, thanks for the comments, I really liked yalls western forum mainly because it was an impromptu speed art challenge while maintaining a story. I thought it would be alot of fun to have different topics like that. Sort of like roleplaying forums but with cartoons. Where are you going/went to school?
(side note) Cartuneman we just got a laser cutter in our department, the construction science guys used to make fun of us for having to cut all the cardboard houses and plexiglass prelims... now we do it in autocad and the machine cuts it for us... it's absolutely amazing, and it's really spoiling those silly freshman who don't understand how long it takes by hand. Great work! Would love to see the anims. I don't know if this helps, but if you keep your lines on a separate layer from your fills you could select the line layer and modify>shape>convert lines to fills. If you change the size of something during an animation a line size will stay the same size (appear to get bigger as the object gets smaller?); if you convert to a paint fill later, it will shrink as the object shrinks (like if you zoom out the camera view during an animation). However, if the line size is less than a 2 some lines may dissapear when converted (?). Keep the undo button handy!:p
