hey com,i don't know about this one,and its hard for me to say this because i know you've been working hella hard on this (been watching your progress on brackenwood)
I said before i liked the idea, but i just think things could be slightly more dynamic, and the colour scheme isn't as rich as it could be.
But this is just my opinion,i know plenty of others are liking it as it is,so don't let lil ol' noob put ya off.
maybe i'll have time to get to my entry in time.:D

Noob: Yeah, that's true. The palette could have been more varied and fun. I keep looking at Anry Nemos's and the my favorite journey pieces at cgtalk, and when I get back to mine I realy see how "flat" the colours are =)
Its basicly just shadows, midtone and highlight. And not any exiting gradient colour between that. And it always kinda bothered me that the composition is very "left to the right" I tried making a very saturated colour between the dark shadow and midtone, but it's still very minimal.
But now im so far into the process, that the only thing I have left is the small nitpicking cleanup part. And im jo sick of painting at this painting right now^^ It's probably finished next week.
Then I can move on, and continue on the animation =D
But ofcourse, it doesent mean I absolutly hate this picture^^ im quite prowd of it too, since I think this is alot better then my previous digital painting pieces I think. But there's lots of improvements that could have been done.
Im just to lazy to recompose a new one^^
maby for the next cgtalk comp =P
And thanks for the comments vicjperry, jahnocli and Sangfroid=)
When it's finished I'll post the 1600 pixels wide resolution.
The 5000 pixels wide one is going to cafepress.com on various posters.
And good luck with you're painting Nubian. I realy love the colours and composition so far in you entry. Go finish it! =D
some closeups (still not 100% zoom though)

Aaalmoost done..
I tried to make the colours more interesting, by adding more yellow light into it.
Now im just wondering. Should I use the version where the black border is thicker on the left side, or should I use the one where the borders have the equal size?

Simply Brilliant.
This may not be a huge deal, but my favorite part of this piece is the amount of detail you put into the pine trees.
What resolution are you working at? If you don't mind me asking.

I perfer it also.

The original resolution is 4808 x 2734 pixels.
Im gonna sell it in different postersizes, and by one myself, since my printer is corrupt. (it will be in the "store" section on my webpage if anyone's intrested)

The original is that high? Is that the size of your final rez? DPI at 300 right?
Sorry for all the questions. Just pretty impressed and would like to print a poster myself one day.

The image is over 300 dpi since I decided to have it on a big poster.
Cgtalk required the image to be atleast 300dpi incase it would be printed in the book.
as an example: The A4 paper size in 300dpi = 2480 x 3508 pixels
I started drawing\painting this image at 1200 x something pixels. Then I scaled up to the big resolution to paint over it again and making details, because It's quite hard to start a painting in the full resolution to begin with, becasue it realy pushes the RAM use to the limit. Especially if you're gonna edit big chunks of the image. (I have 1.5 GB ram btw)

I usually go at 1500 , then upsize to 3000. But my Ram limits me to 3000. But yet again, I work at 100dpi, mostly for the web, that why I'm very interested about the specs involved in doing a print job.
Thanks for the reply Com. ;)
