Default Adobe Creative Suite CS2 Now Free!?

When I first heard I couldn't believe it. I found the link and yes it was true. But so many people were downloading it that they crashed Adobe's servers. Adobe should have seen it coming and made more servers available. Maybe I can snag it later. How big is the CS2 suite anyway?

Well when the webpage came back I was able to download Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2. The links also had a serial number which I entered during install and I now have both programs running fine on my system.

You can check yourself: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

There is some confusion on various forums as to what is going on about this whole thing. Some feel this could be a mistake on someone's part at Adobe who is being ambiguous about it. This is older software which Adobe may no longer support. And I also see Photoshop Elements 4.0 on the same download page and this is given away with scanner and tablet software.

Well be aware, guys, that if you downloaded it and didn't already have a license (purchased previously) you have a stolen/illegal copy. Adobe did not freely give it to you. That's going to be your call, but you've been warned, can't feign innocence if someone shows up at your door with a warrant.

I already have a license for an earlier version of Photoshop so I'm not concerned with that.

The download page has been up since December and once word got out I imagine hundreds if not thousands have downloaded the software. And Adobe being ambivalent about the issue has left many wondering what were they thinking. I might wait until Adobe makes an official statement about it and if they said it is not legal for non-licensed users then they may delete the software though that might not happen in many cases.

Um, they already announced that. http://www.forbes.com/sites/adrianki...ions-for-free/

Far from ambivalent.
