Default [SPOILERS]Adytum, The Story Side Of Things

For getting feedback, ideas, crit on anything to do with the plot for Adytum: Bound by Blood. I have a somewhat brief glance at the "backstory of the game" in the most barebones way possible. This was a collaborative effort to come up with some brief backstory sketch thus far.

Please note: This story is for a GAME, so it has to fit a game sort of adaptation. It also has some spoilers involved so if you plan on playing, don't read if you do not like to be spoiled. Those who don't mind, read on, critique, offer ideas or direction! Thanks!

----------------------

Backstory and insight to plot starts here:

There were twins born to a rich, royal blood of vampire-like people. The first born, Drac, was to be the heir to the throne (the Vampyre Lord). He had strange qualities that no other Vampyre possessed including dark eyes and light coloured hair. His twin brother Ozul was always overshadowed even though Ozul felt that he had just as much right to the throne of vampyres as his brother did. He became overwhelmingly jealous even at an extremely young age. The two boys were mostly sheltered from the outside world, as they are royalty and must be protected at all times.

During the early years of the twins' lives, a war was waged between the regular humans and vampire-like race. Although the Vampyres were a fairly placid race, they fought for their home. But the number of humans far exceeded that of Vampyres. Ozul found this just the opportunity to get rid of his older brother and set it up for him to be attacked. Drac was wounded and presumed dead, his body dumped in a nearby river by his brother. Ozul reported this to his father. In despair, the Vampyre Lord impaled himself causing an imbalance in the bloodchain and weakening the rest of the Vampyre race (all of their powers kind of stem from that bloodline) enough for the humans to push control and win the war.

The vampyres dispersed themselves throughout the world living in pockets of communities and some even hiding their abilities and trying to live among humans.

Very few of the original royal court remained together, Ozul being one of them although his power had weakened the greatest and his body remaining in a state of comatose.

In a far region, many years later, a group of exiled Vampyres known as 'Decus' lay tucked in behind human civilization. These vampyres are ruthless thieves that live by stealing and plundering nearby human communities. They seem to have somewhat of a grudge against humans although most of them have forgotten exactly why. It has been nearly fifteen years since the war, and 'Decus' is made large up of a newer generation: those who were young at the time of the war. A blonde man with dark blue eyes, who calls himself Yukio, is one of the higher ups in the tribe although he is "a mere human". (Yukio IS Drac, who survived his wounds although his powers became dormant after the death of his father. Because of his odd-coloured hair and eyes, the tribe he lives with that took him in think he is just another human - but fortunately for them, they could raise him as an ally to their coven and have a greater success of getting into nearby human settlements).

Yukio became a great asset to 'Decus' and is one of the top-ranking members of his society, though he is a cynical and arrogant sort who believes that he is "too good" for their society structure of rank. Even though he is often contesting the higher individuals, his extreme wit and intelligence makes him charm the woman (and some men <_< ). He seems to have ulterior motives and can be prone to frequent mood swings. Basically he is your typical Byronic Hero type. So although he is the main character, he has a sort of mildly 'evil-ish' personality. He's by no means your normal good guy.

At the beginning of the game, he is on orders to obtain a chalice for some purpose, from a human settlement. As he is fleeing from the humans he meets a girl displaying Vampyre-like powers - Yukio has never seen other Vampyres outside of 'Decus'. Unlike all of the other girls, this one doesn't seem to fall to his charms which somewhat agitates him. When the girl senses Vampyre blood within Yukio, that is when the game plot gets really rolling.

Before this, we're shown a scene with the antagonists of the game. Hesterweisser, one of the Vampyres that has tended to Ozul, is talking to a voice (which is the conscience of Ozul) about the Hour of Ecanthe (will explain more about this ritualistic thing later) and a sacrifice that escapes (the girl that meets Yukio).

Pretty much Ozul's goal is to not only revive himself as a Lord, but to transform the entire world into a Vampyre race under his control.

And though Yukio starts off the game as "an asshole" <- quoting Soak XD, he eventually softens and has to stop his brother from taking reign.

And there's a lot more to it, but generally theres your backstory and something to get you started with how the game feels. Kind of dark, some gothic, some romantic, some medieval, and somewhat modern. Kind of a mish mash between old gothique and neo-gothique.
